Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple easily turned into my favorite for being real and somehow untouched. Local lunch was awesome – exactly the sort of simple, good spot you wouldn’t find unless a local (ours was Wayan) gave you the tip. Love how it all felt slow; nobody pushed us into souvenir stops or strict timetables, just roomy breaks at a jungle waterfall and time with friends.

Visiting the Tegallalang rice terraces with my partner felt like rediscovering a hidden corner of Bali I'd somehow missed before. What struck me was the quiet — no crowds pushing by, just hush and stretches of greenery, starkly different from a packed tourist run. Ketut, our driver, seemed to know all the little tricks, enough that lunch took us someplace without any other tour groups in sight. Mostly, was gratefulnot to be herded into any shopping detours or collect-your-souvernir moments, just time to relax. Good… albeit less dazzling than expected after hearing people hype it up, but I left with a sense of genuine Bali, slices many people miss.
